Office lighting
Open-plan, meeting rooms, and corridors — illuminance to SANS 10114-1, glare controlled to UGR<19, and emergency luminaires that meet the OHS Act schedule.
What good office lighting needs
Modern offices are mixed-use spaces — focus work needs 500 lux, collaboration zones need warmer, dimmer light. Genstar panels and downlights are specified to UGR<19 to avoid screen glare, with CRI≥80 for accurate skin tones in video calls and 4000K neutral white as the default trade preference. Tunable-white options support circadian schedules where stakeholders want it.
Genstar SKUs we recommend
600×600 commercial LED panels (40W, 4000K, UGR<19) for ceiling grids. 12W and 20W recessed downlights for corridors and breakout zones. Linear ceiling panels for open-plan. All available with DALI or 1-10V dimming, with emergency-pack versions for egress routes.
Compliance link
Office buildings fall under the OHS Act. From 5 September 2026 the Physical Agents Regulations make emergency lighting mandatory on every evacuation route. Pair your office spec with the GELS emergency range to deliver a single compliant scheme.
